Building a React Native app from scratch, and doing the AWS backend work alongside it.

  • Led the architecture and setup of a React Native project, established CI/CD pipelines, configured App Store and Play Store deployments, and guided a team of 4 developers to a successful MVP launch.
  • Worked as a Backend Cloud Engineer alongside the Senior Platform Engineer on AWS infrastructure (Cognito, OpenSearch and CloudFormation), implementing OAuth via Cognito, expanding OpenSearch capabilities, and designing a scalable MonoTable architecture for the Feed system.
  • Streamlined integration testing workflows, implemented an Expo-based notification system, and contributed to backend cloud optimisations ahead of the MVP launch.

Four years of fundamentals, and a final year project that somehow became an AI cricket coach.

  • Graduated with a CGPA of 3.73 / 4.00.
  • Built CricAI, an AI-powered cricket coaching platform, as the final year project.
  • Grounded in Human Computer Interaction, which still shapes how I build interfaces.
CGPA 3.73 / 4.00

Projects

Four things I have built. One for a client, one for a grade, and two for no reason at all.

Typer

A keyboard that is just nice to type on

Solo build

A neomorphic keyboard you can actually mess around with, and every theme brings its own music. If you only click one thing on this page, make it this one.

  • Used React Context for multi-theme support, so themes never had to be threaded down to every key component.
  • Implemented dynamic audio file handling so each theme carries its own sound.

Team Lead, freelance

An AI platform that helps students study by quizzing them and letting them ask questions straight to their own textbooks.

  • Led a team of three, keeping backend, frontend and deployment moving in step.
  • Built most of the frontend, then deployed the backend on AWS ECS, picking up real mileage with VPCs, security groups and container orchestration.

CricAI

An AI-powered cricket coach

Final Year Project

A training app that watches your shot and tells you what went wrong, so coaches and players get real feedback instead of guesswork.

  • Created a custom dataset and trained a shot classification model to surface the ideal player data for comparison.
  • Built FastAPI services for pose estimation, shot comparison and shot classification, wired straight into the mobile app.

YouTube link in, graded quiz out

Solo build

Paste a YouTube link, get a multiple choice test out of it, and it marks the test for you too.

  • Used AssemblyAI to transcribe the video and supply context for question generation.
  • Used the GPT-4 model via Clarifai to generate the quiz from the transcript.

Toolkit

Everything here I have used on something real. Filter it if you want, nothing disappears either way.

About

I spend way too long on things most people will never notice.

HCI was my favourite subject at uni and it kind of ruined me. I can’t open an app now without clocking the transition that stutters or the button that lies about what it does. Most days I’m in React Native or Flutter, and lately a lot more in AWS.

The stuff I’m proudest of has no real reason to exist. Typer is just a keyboard you type on because it sounds nice. That’s the whole app. I want to make more things like that, something you open when you’re bored and it makes your day slightly better.

Otherwise I’m watching a film, or halfway into a new project I swore would be small. I’d move for the right job. Europe would be nice.

Favourite film

La La Land. I have watched that ending an embarrassing number of times.

“I’m letting life hit me until it gets tired. Then I’ll hit back. It’s a classic rope-a-dope.” Sebastian, La La Land

On repeat

Fairuz, Coke Studio, Billie Eilish. My playlist makes no sense and I have stopped trying to explain it.

The regret

My parents are Pathan, but I grew up in Saudi where Pashto never really came up, so I never learned it. That is the one thing I actually want to fix.

Not a sports guy

I built an AI cricket coach and I do not watch cricket. The problem was fun. The sport had nothing to do with it.

The name

I needed a gamertag once, went with Dibs, and it stuck. There is no better story than that.

Currently

Building JournalAway. I kept forgetting good days, so I am making somewhere to keep them.

I’m looking for what’s next. Mobile, frontend, backend, I don’t mind which, as long as the work is good. Happy to relocate. Send me something and I’ll reply.
